Following the groundbreaking success of the Reputation tour, Taylor’s career was far from over. She was ready for new opportunities, and in November 2018, she signed a landmark deal with Universal Music Group, switching to Republic Records, which was about to mark a massive shift in her career.
Unlikely Swiftie
When people think about celebrity fans of Taylor Swift, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is likely pretty far down the list. During the NFL offseason in July 2023, Kelce attended a night of the Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri—home of the Chiefs.

While there, he planned to participate in the infamous friendship bracelet exchange trend, but as he later told his brother Jason on their podcast New Heights, that wasn’t all he was looking for—he wanted to shoot his shot. “I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it,” he confessed, though it was later confirmed that he was unsuccessful. Thankfully for Kelce, there was an “invisible string”, in Taylor’s words, leading him to Swift.
Invisible String
Even though his plan didn’t work out, he got some help from friends in high places who put him in touch with Taylor. There’s still speculation about who it actually was that played Cupid for the pair, but whoever it was, they did a good job.

By October 2023, Travis was spotted backstage at the Eras Tour, and later, Taylor was spotted with the other famous wives of the Chiefs in the VIP box at a game. Much to the delight of her fans, it was clear—“Tayvis” was real.
The Tortured Poets Department
In February 2024, Travis Kelce revealed that he and Taylor had been seeing each other for about a month before she attended her first game, calling their time together “a crazy, crazy ride,” as he told People. In March 2024, they were photographed holding hands in New York City following Taylor’s appearance on Saturday Night Live, confirming their status as a couple.

Travis also stayed by Taylor’s side as her biggest supporter through the release of her eleventh album, The Tortured Poets Department, her longest and most vulnerable album to date. She amended her Eras Tour to include a section for the new album, and at her concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, even invited Travis on stage to make a surprise in-character cameo. They were totally loved up.
The Guy on the Chiefs
This relationship marks a turning point for Taylor—her most public romance yet. Unlike her past relationships, where she kept things private, this time she’s embracing the spotlight with Travis. Taylor has been open about her happiness and even references him playfully in her music.

During her Eras Tour, she changed the lyrics in her song Karma to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me,” giving fans a fun nod to Travis. For the first time, Taylor seems to be enjoying love without any hiding, and her fans are loving it, too.
Looking to the Future
After making a splash in the country world as a teenager, 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift went on to become one of the biggest names in the music industry and the world. She’s kept Swifties and non-Swifties on their toes with 11 original studio albums and four re-recorded albums under her belt over almost two decades.

From re-recording her old albums to breaking records with the Eras Tour and finding happiness in her most public relationship yet, Taylor shows no signs of slowing down. One thing is certain—Taylor Swift’s journey is far from over, and we’re sure that the best is yet to come.
